Golf Team Places 12th At Cornell/Temple Invitational

PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. – The Saint Joseph’s golf team wrapped up play at the Cornell/Temple Invitational on Sunday with a 12th place finish, while Kevin Smith paced the Hawks individually with a tie for 27th place.

How It Happened
• As a team, the Hawks shot 301 (+21) in Sunday’s final round for a two-round score of 300-301/601 (+41).
• Entering the day tied for 29th, Smith jumped two spots after carding a round of 74 (+4) for a two-round score of 73-74/147 (+7).
Jake Avery carded a round of 75 (+5) to finish tied for 53rd place with a score of 76-75/151 (+11).
• Freshman Matt Zerfass tied for 61st place in his first collegiate event with a score of 78-74/152 (+12).
JT Spina spirit Ryan Gorman rounded out the five-man squad as they tied for 69th place with scores of 75-79/154 (+14) and 76-78/154 (+14), respectively.
• Playing as an individual, freshman Christian Matt tied for 47th in his first match as a Hawk with a two-round score of 76-74/150 (+10).
• Temple captured the team title by three strokes over Rhode Island, 561 (+1) to 564 (+4).
• The Owls’ Ethan Whitney earned medalist honors with a two-round score of 66-69/135 (-5).
• The Cornell/Temple Invitational was played at the par 70, 6,951-yard 1912 Club.
