GM Monti Ossenfort doesn’t see DeAndre Hopkins trade happening

All offseason, the Arizona Cardinals have been shopping wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. A report came out Thursday that a deal was probably going to happen during the draft.

It didn’t and, if you ask Cardinals general manager Moni Ossenfort, it probably isn’t happening.

“I don’t foresee that happening,” he said when he addressed the media following the Cardinals’ selection of offensive lineman Paris Johnson.

He didn’t just mean he didn’t think it would happen on Thursday.

He meant he didn’t think anything was going to happen “throughout the entire draft.”

He also indicated he wasn’t sure what would happen over Friday and Saturday, but he did not sound like a man who was optimistic about a deal.

“DeAndre’s a Cardinal and we’re moving forward,” he said.

The Cardinals wanted to acquire a Day 2 pick for Hopkins. That is still possible.

We will see if nothing ends up panning out over the next couple of days and whether the Cardinals decide to roll with Hopkins as part of the lineup in 2023.
