Gillingham Golf Club have had a sensational year.
There have been wins across the sections at the Woodlands Road club and they celebrated their success at an award ceremony last month.
Rob Spinks and Dawn Smith won the prestigious Reid Bowl trophy at Littlestone Golf club – a competition open to club captains and lady captains – for the first time in the club’s history.
Peter Bosworth captained a side to the Super Seniors Group B League title.
The club were also Kent Golf Veterans League Group IV winners for the second successive year, captained by Paul Eckhardt. The 2022 title follows on from their success in 2021 which saw them win the league and the Love Trophy.
The end of season Reed Bowl was also won for the second time in three years beating all in the group.
Gillingham were also Kent Foursomes winners, captained by Ryan Dray and winning the final at Sene Valley Golf Club.
Dray was also captain as Gillingham finished Top Club runners-up.
In Kent League A Division, Gillingham were winners under the captaincy of Matt Thomson, taking the title for the second year running. Rob Brack also led a team to success in the B Division, winning the title with a game still to play – the first time the club has secured the title in 25 years.
The East Kent League trophy came their way, under captain Dan Peat and they also clinched the knockout cup after winning every heat.
In the Guilford Trophy, Gillingham were captained by Matt Thomson and they beat Sheerness Golf Club at Sittingbourne.
David Smith was the captain for his first season in the Whitbread and led them to promotion to Division 1 and made the cup semi-final.
General manager Aaron Harris said: “It’s been a fantastic year at our golf club and it’s my first year here. To see the club successful in all aspects is amazing.
“I would like to say a huge thank you to all our members and staff for their support and our lady captain Dawn Smith and club captain Rob Spinks for all their efforts this year.
“We wish to continue our success into 2023 to make back to back victories and with our new junior development academy to hope to continue our success.”
