BOSTON–With the season now over for the Philadelphia 76ers, the attention turns to the offseason. They have a lot of questions that need to be answered and some issues that need addressing.
Of course, the biggest question mark is James Harden as nobody truly knows what’s going to happen with him. The Beard is likely to opt out of his player option and test free agency, but nobody knows how that situation will play out.
Another player entering free agency is Georges Niang. The Minivan averaged 8.2 points and 2.4 rebounds while shooting 40.1% from deep off the bench for the Sixers and he then shot 46.2% from deep in the playoffs–albeit on only 2.4 attempts per game.
After the Game 7 loss to the Boston Celtics, Niang expressed a desire to return to the Sixers.
“Obviously, I love it here in Philly,” Niang said. “Like I said, I haven’t really wrapped my head around everything, but I really enjoyed being here and the guys, the camaraderie, the organization, it’s been amazing.”
In two seasons with the Sixers, Niang has been an important piece to this team’s bench unit. He has shot 40.2% from deep during his time with the Sixers and he has been a bit of a fan favorite by bringing energy and hustle to the floor every night.
“I’m super thankful that they’ve always welcomed me, the fans have welcomed me, and I don’t know what the summer holds,” Niang finished. “I’m not a future teller, but it’s gonna come and we’ll find out.”
