Geodis Park to host US Men’s National Team vs. Ghana in October: What to know

The US Men’s National Team will be a featured guest at the nation’s largest soccer specific stadium when it faces Ghana in an anticipated international exhibition Oct. 17 (7:30 p.m. CT, Universo and Peacock).

The game, announced Tuesday, will be in preparation for the national team’s quarterfinal matches in the CONCACAF Nations League, and will come on the heels of a game against four-time World Cup champion Germany on Oct. 14 in East Harford, Connecticut.

It will be the first game USMNT, which features Nashville SC’s Walker Zimmerman, has played at Geodis Park.

The US has split its four games against Ghana, with three of the meetings taking place on soccer’s biggest stage, the World Cup. Ghana knocked the Americans out of the 2006 and 2010 World Cup competitions, and the US beat the Black Stars in group play in 2014 in Brazil. The last time the two teams played, the US beat Ghana 2-1 loss in 2017 in Hartford.

Presales for the match against Ghana will begin July 5, with the public sale beginning July 13. Nashville SC season ticket holders and fans will be able to purchase tickets from 10 am-10 pm on July 11.

The US has played six times in Nashville, including a dramatic 3-1 win against Jamaica in the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup semifinal in which USMNT star Christian Pulisic scored two goals.

Geodis Park hosted the SheBelieves Cup that featured the US Women’s National Team in February as the USWNT rehearsed for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup this summer. The four-team, invitational tournament featured the US vs. Japan and was followed by Brazil vs. Canada. The USWNT has played in Tennessee seven times, dating back to 2004, with four of those games at Nissan Stadium.
