Gary Ablett Jr to play for Palmerston this season

Palmerston Football Club has confirmed Gary Ablett Jr will pull on the black and white this NTFL season, as he seeks support for his new charity.

PALMERSTON Football Club has confirmed today former Geelong and Gold Coast Suns champion Gary Ablett Jr will play a game at Cazalys Arena in November this NTFL season.

The club said at a press conference this afternoon the dual Brownlow medalist and premiership player would be a Pie in 2022-23.

It was revealed last month that Ablett Jr was likely to play for the Pies this season.

The NT News understands Ablett Jr will play a game on November 18 against reigning premier St Mary’s and will be part of an official function for 10 people at $2000 a head.

A further function will also be held at $100 a head.

Ablett Jr will join fellow ex-AFL champion Eddie Betts at Cazalys Arena.

In a statement on its Facebook page, the club said it was honored to welcome Ablett Jr, his wife Jordan, daughter Grace and son Levi to Palmerston.

“To have Gary and family here as part of the football community is a massive coup for the club, and so exciting for our NTFL competition,” the club said.

It also said the arrangement had been co-ordinated through Magpies junior and former Geelong teammate, Mathew Stokes.

Ablett Jr will also seek support for his charity Active Faith Ltd, which aims to relieve Australian children from poverty, suffering, hunger and distress.
