The transfer additions keep rolling in for the Florida State baseball team.
Late Monday night, Florida pitcher transfer Yoel Tejada Jr. became the seventh player and fourth pitcher to announce they are transferring to FSU so far this offseason.
Tejada is coming off a freshman season at UF where he had a 5.56 earned run average over a limited 22.2 innings, allowing 26 hits, issuing 12 walks and striking out 11 batters. While those metrics aren’t the most impressive, six of his 14 earned runs allowed came in one appearance against Florida Atlantic on March 7.
The 6-foot-8 rising sophomore from Davie (Fla.) North Florida Prep was the No. 52 players and no. 13 outfielder in the 2022 class along with being a right-handed pitcher. He sits in the low to mid-90s with his fastball as well as a slider to balance that out.
As a senior in high school, Tejada hit .355 with a .475 on-base percentage and .617 slugging percentage. While he didn’t get the opportunity for any at-bats in Florida’s talented lineup, he may get the opportunity to hit as well for the Seminoles.
FSU was in need of much greater pitching depth and a more versatile array of arms and it has definitely gotten that so far in the transfer portal, adding UCF transfers Jacob Marlowe and Cam Leiter as well as UNC-Wilmington transfer Ethan Chenault, whose FSU enrollment is dependent on the MLB Draft.
