Four Players to watch in Fayetteville Region

The Fayetteville region is tough, which will make life harder for the hometown Razorbacks to make it back to the College World Series.

Arkansas hosts two conference champions, Santa Clara and TCU, while Arizona made it to the Pac-12 Championship. All three teams are playing their best baseball and have been putting the runs on the board.

Arkansas fans are going to want to see the Hogs make it out of this tough region, but they’re going to be some good baseball players on the field at Baum-Walker Stadium next weekend that any baseball an can appreciate to watch.

Whether it’s at the plate on or on the mound, these are players to watch out for during the NCAA Baseball Fayettville region.

Pitcher, Hagen Smith, Arkansas

Smith is the best pitcher in the region, one of eight pitchers that are semifinalists for the Golden Spikes Award. Smith carries a 2.69 ERA and 8-1 record in 10 starts and 16 game appearances. His last start was against LSU in the SEC tournament. He allowed two runs but finished with nine strikeouts in 3.2 innings of work.

OF, Chase Davis, Arizona

Chase Davis is a future big-leaguer. He is also a Golden Spikes semifinalist and 3rd team All-American, leading the Pac-12 in home runs with 19. He is also third on the school’s all-time list for home runs with 37. Whenever he is at the plate, everyone is going to pay attention.

INF, Brayden Taylor, TCU

Taylor is TCU’s all-time leading home run leader with 46 career hits. He’s hit 21 this season, which is second in the conference.

OF, Coleman Brigman, Santa Clara

Brigman is probably the best overall player for the Broncos. He is hitting .303 at the plate with 12 home runs, 49 RBIs, and 10 stolen bases. Not to mention he has a pretty good glove in the outfield.
