Former Vernon resident sports her own Super Bowl ring as LA Rams employee – Vernon News

Sporting Super Bowl bling

Vernon’s Sarah Bailey has some bling few people can lay claim to.

Bailey is manager of analytics for the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams, which defeated the Cincinnati Bengals to win Super Bowl LVI.

And that means Bailey has her own Super Bowl ring.

Born and raised in Vernon, Bailey has been working for the Rams for the past five years.

Following college in the US, where she was on the track team, Bailey landed an internal slot with the NFL’s Chargers before returning to BC to attend Simon Fraser University.

Bailey said landing a job with the Rams was part timing and part good luck.

“A job opened up online, I applied, went through the interview process. I was flown down there and I got the job.”

Bailey now lives in LA

Football may be a male-dominated sport, but Bailey says more women are being hired by NFL teams.

“We have eight women working full time in the office, obviously compared to the 60 men isn’t that many, but you don’t feel too out of place,” she said.

When Bailey started with the Rams, she was in the thick of things.

“I was working primarily with the trainers and the coaches,” said Bailey, adding she has less direct contact with the players now as her job has progressed into other areas of analytics.

“It’s a lot of fun. It’s been good so far,” she said while visiting back home in Vernon.

She’s been in town for the past few days while the Rams are in Cincinnati this week doing joint practices with the Bengals.
