Former MLB Player Shares Notable Praise For The Braves

  • by

The Atlanta Braves have signed many of their young stars to long contract extensions.

In addition to extending Matt Olson upon his arrival in Atlanta, the Braves also extended Austin Riley, Michael Harris, Spencer Strider, Ozzie Albies, and others.

For the time being, the Braves have their young core locked up.

Atlanta has won five consecutive National League East titles and won a World Series title in 2021.

On Twitter, former MLB player Cameron Maybin discussed the Braves’ approach in keeping their young stars around, praising the organization for the way they have handled their young players and imploring that other organizations follow their example.

How The Braves Built A Contender

With their recent contract extensions, the Braves will have their core of young players together for quite some time.

That core of players has given the Braves a tremendous boost.

In 2018, the Braves were coming off a 90-loss season and a fourth straight season out of the postseason.

But the arrivals of Albies, Riley, Ronald Acuna Jr. Max Fried, helped transform the team into a powerhouse.

Fast forward three years, and the City of Atlanta was celebrating their first World Series title since 1995.

After back-to-back NLDS losses to the Los Angeles Dodgers and St. Louis Cardinals, Atlanta emerged as a legitimate threat for the World Series when they reached the NLCS in 2020.

Although they coughed up a 3-1 lead and watched the Dodgers advance, they came back in 2021 and eliminated them in that year’s NLCS.

The Braves fell short in the NLDS in 2022 against the Philadelphia Phillies, but thanks to their young core of stars, they put together a 101-win season and remained a force to be reckoned with in the National League.
