ST. GEORGE — Hedgerow Gallery announces “Flowing,” a show of mobiles and sculptures by Lincolnville artist Antje Roitzsch that opens Friday, Aug. 26, and runs through Sunday, Sept. 11
Roitzsch is an artist of many facets and talents. In “Flowing,” she will bring together her recent work of suspended mobile sculptures with garden sculptures, along with some wearable art.
“Flowing” is a way to describe any of Roitzsch’s artistic expressions. From her abstract cement-and-steel garden sculptures to her peaceful, hanging mobiles and even her belt buckles or jewelry — all share a feeling of graceful beauty. The inspirations for her fluid organic shapes range from unfurling spring leaves to the water swirls of a lively brook.
“I think the pieces invite a moment of pause, to take a breath and slow down,” said Roitzsch. “In observing the gentle motion of a mobile or the relationship of a sculpture to the surrounding garden, I hope a moment of peace can wash over the observer, leaving them feeling renewed and refreshed.”
Roitzsch will be on hand at the gallery to talk with visitors about her work from 2 to 4 pm on both Friday and Saturday of the show’s opening weekend, Aug. 26 and 27, and again Saturday, Sept. 3.
Hedgerow Gallery is located behind the Hedgerow market barn at 8 Ridge Road (the corner of Route 131 and Ridge Road) in the Martinsville section of St. George. Like the market, it is open Wednesdays through Sundays from 9 am to 4 pm Visit hedgerowdesign.com for more information.
