DALLAS — Nazem Kadri had a goal and an assist and the Calgary Flames held off the Dallas Stars for a 6-5 win at the American Airlines Center on Saturday.
Rasmus Andersson and Chris Tanev each had a goal and an assist, and Jonathan Huberdeau and MacKenzie Weegar each had two assists for the Flames (21-14-9), who are 3-0-2 in their past five games. Dan Vladar made 29 saves.
Joe Pavelski had two goals and an assist Tyler Seguin had a goal and an assist for the Stars (25-12-7). Jason Robertson and Miro Heiskanen each had two assists, and Scott Wedgewood made 30 saves.
The Flames had a 6-1 lead before the Stars scored the next four goals.
Seguin scored with 46 seconds remaining in the second period to cut the lead to 6-2 on a shot from the high slot.
Pavelski scored at 7:19 in the third period to make it 6-3 from the front of the net. He then scored at 12:54 to make it 6-4 when he tipped in a point shot from Heiskanen.
Colin Miller scored from the point to get the Stars within 6-5 at 15:23.
Andrew Mangiapane scored 25 seconds into the first period on a wraparound to give Calgary a 1-0 lead.
Trevor Lewis scored on his own rebound on the power play to make it 2-0 at 8:10.
Jamie Benn scored short-handed at 15:34 to cut the lead to 2-1 after Stars forward Ty Dellandrea forced a turnover behind Vladar’s net.
Calgary then scored four goals in the second period to take a 6-1 lead.
Elias Lindholm gave the Flames a 3-1 lead on the power play at 10:54 when a shot through traffic Tyler Toffoli redirected off his leg.
Kadri made it 4-1 at 13:07 on a shot from the high slot. The goal was upheld after Dallas used a coach’s challenge for offside.
Andersson made it 5-1 at 16:38 on a shot from the top of the left circle.
Tanev gave Calgary a 6-1 lead at 17:57 on a shot that deflected off of Stars forward Denis Gurianov‘s stick.
It was the first game between the teams since the Flames defeated the Stars in seven games in the first round of the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
