“Field Of Dreams,” NFL, nepotism, NBA schedule and more | Sports Media Watch Podcast

On the latest edition of the show, host TJ Rives and Jon Lewis of SportsMediaWatch.com return to go over all the latest news, ratings, moves and more!

First, the guys discuss the expected ratings drop for Fox MLB coverage of the second “Field of Dreams” game in the Iowa cornfield late last week? You can’t say Jon didn’t warn you that he knew the audience would be a lot less and the guys go over the reasons why.

They also talk about the beginning of the NFL preseason and some of the national broadcasts that start up this week on ESPN and FOX.

Next, while the Big Ten sorts out its new agreements with Fox, CBS and NBC, the Peacock network has named Jac Collinsworth (son of Cris) and former Cowboys coach Jason Garrett as their Notre Dame home game broadcasters. Jon has thoughts on nepotism opening doors not just in this case but others, plus why nepotism is not the worst advantage in the industry.

Then, some NBA schedule talk for the upcoming ’22-23 season and in particular the league’s decision to have a full slate of games on Christmas despite the NFL also playing three games on that Sunday.

Finally, It’s “Love it or Leave it?” time again from subjects like the WNBA playoffs, Fantasy Football and yes….Jon’s washer and dryer delivery too!
