Ex-Twitter employees to testify before House Intel Committee over Hunter Biden’s laptop

A a trio of former Twitter employees will appear before the House Oversight Committee for testimony on Feb. 8, marking the first session for the committee under chairman Rep. James Comer (R-KY).

The three unidentified ex-employees will testify before the committee about the social media platform’s decision to censor a story on Hunter Biden’s laptop published by the New York Post shortly before the 2020 presidential election, according to Fox News.

Additionally, the committee will be looking for answers about classified documents that were found inside President Joe Biden’s home located in Wilmington, Delaware. The classified documents were found in the president’s garage in Delaware in December, and more classified documents were found in his Delaware home on Jan. 12.

The situation involving the president’s son became intertwined with the issue of Biden’s classified documents after evidence showed that Hunter Biden likely had access to one of the areas where the president kept classified documents. A memoir written by the president’s son claimed that he and others were holed up at his father’s residence near where classified documents were discovered back on election night in 2020.

In late-2022, journalist Matt Taibbi published Twitter’s internal documents known as the “Twitter Files,” which included internal communications of the social media platform discussing the Biden laptop story. In one of the emails, former Twitter head of trust and safety Yoel Roth appeared to encourage Twitter staff to censor the story.

In November 2022, roughly a month after Elon Musk purchased the platform, Musk fired the executives who were in charge of covering up the Biden laptop story, including Vijaya Gadde, Twitter’s chief censor. All three of the employees who will testify next month are still unidentified, although it is possible Gadde will be among the three.
