Eastern Michigan University women’s soccer team will begin the 2022 season schedule on Aug. 18, at 5 pm against Western Illinois at Scicluna Field in Ypsilanti.
Throughout this season, the squad will play 18 total regular season matches, eight at home and 10 away.
EMU has already competed in a preseason exhibition match against Oakland where the Eagles lost 3-0, as well as an exhibition game against Detroit Mercy on Aug. 11.
After the opening match against the Leathernecks, EMU will travel two weekends straight to face Illinois State (Aug. 21) and St. Bonaventure (Aug. 28). The final two non-conference weeks will be two matches at home against Syracuse (Sep. 1) and Dartmouth (Sep. 4). Competing against the Big Green will be the first time EMU soccer faces an Ivy League school. The last weekend in non-conference play consists of Morehead State (Sep. 8) and Kentucky (Sep. 11) in KY.
On Sep. 22, Mid-American Conference games will begin for the Eagles as they host Central Michigan. EMU will hit the road afterward to battle against Ball State (Sep. 25) and Akron (Sep. 29).
October consists of eight matches, with four at home and the other four on the road. On Oct. 2, the Eagles are set to play Ohio and Kent State on Oct. 6. EMU will travel to battle Buffalo on Oct. 9, and come back home to play against Toledo on Oct. 13.
EMU will head to Western Michigan on Oct. 16, and Northern Illinois on Oct. 20. The final regular season home match will be on Oct. 23, against 2021 MAC champion Bowling Green. The last game in the regular season will be at Miami on Oct. 27.
On Oct. 30, the MAC Playoffs will kick off and the quarterfinals will be held at two different campuses. The MAC will have six teams participating in the playoffs, with the #6 and #3 seeds competing and the #5 and #4 seeds competing to determine which teams will be in the semifinals to face the #1 and #2 seeds.
The semifinals and championship games will be hosted by the #1 seed.
