Aadhaar Card Latest Update: Update name, address online; check fee, how to update demographic details

New Delhi: Aadhaar is a 12-digit random number issued by the UIDAI to the residents of India after satisfying the verification process laid down by the Authority. Any individual, regardless of age and gender, who is a resident of India, may voluntarily enroll to obtain this number.

To obtain this ID, people have to provide minimal demographic (name, date of birth, address etc.) and biometric information (fingerprints, iris scans) during the enrollment process which is totally free of cost. While it is important to make sure that the information provided is accurate and up-to-date, many times it happens that a person’s address is changed or there is a change in their name.

In situations like these, you can easily update your Aadhaar demographic details online using the OTP received on the registered mobile number.

“You can easily Update Demographic Details (Name, DoB, Gender, Address) online, and authenticate via OTP received in SMS. You’ll be charged Rs 50 for mobile update, with or without other demographic data update,” UIDAI said in a tweet on Tuesday.

Fee charged for updating Aadhaar details:

1. Mandatory Biometric Update – FREE

2. Demographic Update (Any type) – Rs. 50/- (Inclusive of GST)

3. Biometric Update – Rs. 100/- (Inclusive of GST)

4. Biometric with Demographic Update Rs. 100/-(including taxes)

5. Aadhaar download and color print-out on A4 sheet – Rs.30/- per Aadhaar (Inclusive of GST). (Source: UIDAI)

Update mobile number in Aadhaar

However, if you haven’t added/updated mobile number in Aadhaar, you can visit the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra (ASK) or Aadhaar Enrolment Update Centre, which can be located using the UIDAI’s official website – uidai.gov.in – or the mAadhaar app. You can also call 1947 to locate the nearest Aadhaar Centre.

No documents are required for mobile number update in Aadhaar. The Aadhaar holder needs to be present for biometric authentication.
