The Giants, to quote Winston Churchill, remain a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma. Are they good? They’re 7-4-1 and currently hold a playoff spot if the season ended today. They hang with opponents and gameplan almost (ALMOST!) flawlessly. Brian Daboll has taped together a rag-tag group of receivers and a quarterback left for dead in a season many expected to be a “tank” contender — and turned it into something of substance. However these last five games go for the Giants — and it’s not an easy stretch (Eagles twice, Commanders, Vikings, Colts) — Daboll will have commanded the respect and dare I say love of a Giants fanbase that has barely been able to laugh at the Jets’ recent shortcomings.
Can the Giants upset the Eagles? Sure, anything can happen on any given weekend. Kickoff between the Eagles and Giants is set for 1 pm Sunday from MetLife Stadium on FOX. The Eagles are a touchdown favorite.
But I’m not sure you will see many Giants logos under any set of expert picks (ours or anyone else’s). The Eagles remain too talented and too well-coached to pull a look-ahead on the Giants this weekend (their final five games include the Bears, Cowboys, Saints and Giants twice), But the Eagles have been held to 21 or fewer points thrice this season; by the Colts (17), Cardinals (20) and Commanders (21) — not exactly the three most feared defenses in the NFL. The Eagles have weaknesses and some holes, just probably not enough for the Giants to exploit.
