DES MOINES — The Fort Dodge boys golf squad earned a pair of Iowa Alliance Conference wins over Des Moines Lincoln and Des Moines North on Tuesday at Bright Grandview Golf Course.
Behind Riley Travis’ one-under par 35, the Dodgers carded a 167 to top the Railsplitters (183) and Polar Bears.
FDSH senior Nathan Beekman and junior Evan Pratt tied Lincoln’s Aaron Ho for runner-up medalist honors at 43.
Carson Werning (46) had the other scoring score for the Dodgers. Grant Hepp (50) and Jaxson Dencklau (52) rounded out the varsity lineup.
“It’s a great confidence booster to get two dual wins,” Dodger first-year head coach Nick Vinson said. “This wasn’t a long course, but we had to be consistent in our decision making and around the greens. We showed signs, even though we still have plenty of work to do.
“Riley hit the ball well. He didn’t have a great day (at Mason City on Monday), but he bounced back and was confident in his gameplan. And it was good to see Nathan and Evan both shooting 43 and lowering their averages some.
“This was a step in the right direction.”
Dalton Rosalez (49) paced the Dodger junior varsity squad.
