dell: Dell Alienware m15 R7 laptop review: Power-packed performer

The Dell Alienware m15 R7 looks more-or-less like last year’s Dell Alienware m15 R6. It gets the same minimalistic design, however, the paint job, called the ‘Dark Side of the Moon’, does offer a stylish touch.

The chassis is made up of aluminum, magnesium alloy and plastic. Needless to mention the RGB lights in the Alienware logo on the lid, the power button, the keyboard and the ellipse on the back of the laptop. The light can be customized using Alienware’s Command Center app.

There is no change in the laptop’s keyboard and trackpad as compared to last year’s model. The keys are wide and offer a mechanical feel while typing. There is a standard-sized trackpad and we noticed some flex in areas around the trackpad.

The gaming machine is heavy (2.6kg) denting the portability aspect. Other things one would notice are the trendy honeycomb-design vents to dissipate heat and keep the laptop cool during gaming sessions.

As far as connectivity options are concerned, you get two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports on the right spine, an ethernet port alongside a 3.5mm headphone and mic combo jack on the left. On the back is a USB-C port with Thunderbolt 4, another USB 3.2 Gen 1 port, an HDMI 2.1 port and the charging port.
