Dalhousie golf championships a success

The annual Dalhousie Golf District women’s championships last month featured a field of eager participants ready to return to the golf course after the cancellation of many events in the past two months.

At Broadford Golf Club, the event was sponsored by Bendigo Bank with NorCen board chair David Wheeler on hand to present trophies.

Trentham’s Terri O’Callaghan was named Dalhousie District Champion for 2022, playing off a 14 handicap and recording 88 off the stick to take home her first win in the event.

A Grade winner Mary Campbell recorded 92-15-77, also taking home top prize in the Champion of Champions event and finishing runner-up to O’Callaghan overall.

Broadford’s Natasha Richards recorded 108-36-72 and took home the Mary Dockery Trophy in her first Dalhousie event, awarded to the player with the best net score from the entire field.

Other winners included Helen Young of Trentham in the B Grade scratch, Kaylene Cruise of Lancefield in the B Grade handicap, Cynthia Thomas in the C Grade scratch, and Richards in the C Grade handicap.

Outgoing women’s captain Beryl Cole was also presented with a daphne plant to show thanks for her contribution to district golf during the past two years.
