Cross Country Teams Dominate at Berry’s Watermelon Run – Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – Georgia Tech cross country shined in their first meet of the season, with both teams claiming first place at Berry College’s Watermelon Run.

Nick Nyman led Tech in the men’s 8K race with a time of 24:56.56 while Liz Galarza recorded a first-place time of 21:24.15 in the women’s 6K.

On the men’s side, the Yellow Jackets claimed the top five spots in the race. Zach Jaeger placed second (24:57.77), James Cragin placed third (25:13.88), Devin Wade took home fourth (25:21.60) and Alex Thomas finished fifth (25:26.29). Three other runners from the men’s team rounded out the top 10 finishers.

In the women’s race, three Jackets finished closely behind Galarza. transfers, Helena Lindsay (21:30.17) and Kate Jortberg (22:15.25) placed second and third, respectively. Mary Brady earned a fourth-place finish with a time of 22:26.87. Katy Earwood (22:49.15), Mackenzie Walls (22:55.70) and Kayla Rose (22:57.41) were among the Tech runners who finished in the top 10 of the women’s 6K race.
