County transfers ownership of Woolrich Park to PC Twp. | News, Sports, Jobs

WOOLRICH – Woolrich Park will soon be owned and operated by Pine Creek Township.

The Clinton County Board of Commissioners approved a land donation agreement which will transfer ownership from the county to the township.

“We’ve talked a couple of months about Woolrich Incorporated donating the park to the county,” Harding said. “In that conversation we spoke with Pine Creek Township, who is going to also take ownership of the park.”

Harding said the township is expected to approve the agreement at its November Board of Supervisors meeting.

“We had a fantastic meeting. We look forward to Woolrich Park continuing to exist as a park in Clinton County,” she said. “We’re very thankful Woolrich had the wherewithal to keep the park for the community.”

The commissioners were approached earlier this year by Woolrich Incorporated about purchasing the park — which features a playground and ball fields — as the company continued liquidating its assets.

At the time, Harding and Commissioner Jeff Snyder began talks with Pine Creek Township’s Board of Supervisors to create a partnership to ensure the park remained open to the public.

“We’re glad to see that this is finally getting done, it’s been going on for months now,” Kessinger said. “This will be the final step.”

Harding said in a previous meeting that Pine Creek will have the manpower and ability to maintain the park.
