PC accessory maker Corsair is expanding into laptops with a high-end notebook called the Voyager a1600, which is full of the latest features.
The 16-inch laptop is geared toward the gaming and video-streaming crowd and features AMD’s Ryzen 6000 mobile CPUs and the company’s higher-end Radeon RX 6800 laptop-focused GPU.
Corsair also managed to pack a number of premium perks into the laptop, including Cherry MX ultra-low profile switches on the keyboard. The product also boasts a 2,560-by-1,600 display capable of a 240Hz refresh rate.
The other notable feature is an LCD-powered “S-key shortcut buttons” bar under the display, which has been designed for video streamers. Buyers will also get a 1080p 30fps web camera, four noise-cancelling microphones, along with dual 20mm built-in speakers.
The Voyager a1600 is certainly large, weighing 5.2 pounds. But it does have a thickness of only 0.78 inches. The other features include Wi-Fi 6E, an SD card reader, and a combination of ports including Thunderbolt 3, USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C, and USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A.
The laptop is also designed to support Corsair’s other PC accessories. “An integrated receiver connects to up to three Corsair Slipsteam Wireless peripherals for a strong, robust signal without tying up any USB ports,” the company says.
The product won’t be cheap, though. The base model starts at $2,699 with an 8-core AMD Ryzen 7 6800HS CPU, 16GB of DDR5 RAM, and 1TB of NVME storage. A second model will cost $2,999, and comes with a more powerful AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS chip, 32GB of DDR5 RAM and 2TB of NVME storage.
There’s no word on a launch date; AMD says it should arrive during the summer. Interested users can go to the Voyager a1600 website to sign up for email updates on the product.
