Colts’ Jonathan Taylor reacts to the state of the RB market

Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor let his thoughts be known on the current state of the running back market after the deadline for contract extensions of franchise-tagged players passed Monday.

Three running backs were applied the franchise tag this offseason—Saquon Barkley, Josh Jacobs and Tony Pollard. None of the three received extensions before the deadline passed, which means they must sign the franchise tag or hold out. Pollard signed his tag in March, which is worth $10.9 million.

Taylor, who is in the final year of his rookie contract, is looking for a new deal. With the news that none of the tagged backs received extensions, Taylor gave his thoughts.

He also retweeted this from Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry.

Taylor has made it clear he wants to finish his career with the Colts, and they’ve expressed interest in re-signing him as well. Of course, they want to do so at the right price.

The Colts were probably hoping a deal would get done with one of the tagged running backs so they’d have some reference to work off of, but now it may be a waiting game on whether Taylor will get a new contract before the season starts.
