Colton Dach suffers a nasty looking injury at the World Juniors.

This one did not look good, and it sounds even worse.

On Saturday night during the World Junior Championship, Chicago Blackhawks prospect Colton Dach suffered a rather horrible looking injury when he attempted to deliver a hit during a game contested between Canada and Sweden. Canada had a comfortable 3 goal lead but Dach continued to play hard, and unfortunately he was not rewarded for his efforts.

Dach went in for a hit along the boards and reacted badly almost immediately, crumbling to the ice awkwardly. There was no doubt about the fact that he was hurt bad though, given that he was screaming in agony due to the pain of what had just happened to him.

I can’t diagnose Dach’s injury from here but it appeared as though he was favoring his right arm, clutching it tight against his body as he attempted to use his left arm to help drag himself off the ice.

Dach’s injury is a big loss for Team Canada who will lose one of their young centers at the tournament, but this could also impact the Chicago Blackhawks depending on the severity of the injury. Dach was selected in the second round (62nd overall) of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft and was playing with the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League this season prior to entering the tournament to represent Canada.
