DALLAS — October has almost come to a close, and as we prepare to move from “spooky season” to the holiday season, we’re taking a look at some of the biggest and most recent news from around the NAHL, as well as the league’s October initiative.
NHL Central Scouting releases their Preliminary Players to Watch List
With the list being released, there are eight players from the NAHL who were given a grade, including five who currently play in the NAHL and three alumni.

College commitments
One thing the NAHL prides itself on is advancing players to the next level of the game. To date, here are the number of collegiate commitments around the league.
- 122 commitments so far in the 2022-23 season
- All commitments are to DI schools
- The Janesville Jets have the most players in the NAHL committed with 13

For their play from Oct. 17-23, one player from each NAHL division has been awarded the Bauer Hockey Star of the Week
- Central Division Star of the Week: Trent Wiemken, Austin Bruins
- Wiemken helped lead the Bruins to a weekend sweep of the Bismarck Bobcats, stopping 67 of 72 shots he faced between the pipes through two games. Wiemken is 3-1-1 so far this season with a 3.10 goals against average and .876 save percentage.
- East Division Star of the Week: Ben Muthersbaugh, New Jersey Titans
- This past weekend was the best one for Titans forward Ben Muthersbaugh so far. He put up three goals and an assist in the split against the Philidelphia Rebels. He has seven points through 15 games currently.
- Midwest Division Star of the Week: Isak Posch , Minnesota Wilderness
- Through two games, Posch stopped 52 of 53 shots between the pipes. He is 5-3-1 so far this season, and has a 1.85 goals against average and .935 save percentage.
- South Division Star of the Week: Malte Hasselgren, Oklahoma Warriors
- Putting up five points through two games last weekend, including a hat-trick, forward Malte Hasselgren was awarded the South Division Star of the Week. Through nine games this season, Hasselgren has nine points.
As we head into the final weekend of games in the Month of October, let’s take one last look at the players who were awarded NAHL Player of the Month in their respective positions for their play in the month of Sept.
