COLDWATER, MI. – The Coldwater Cardinal varsity soccer team battled back from a two-goal deficit to earn a hard-fought tie with Hastings Thursday night, as the teams ended 80 minutes of play all tied up at 3-3.

Hastings raced out to an early 2-0 lead in the first half of the game to rock the Lady Cardinals early. Coldwater buckled down at the half however, stepping up their pressure on both ends of the field right out of the whistle, only allowing one Saxons shot on goal over the remaining 40 minutes of play.

Coldwater finally got on the board with a Lily Bockheim goal a few moments into the half, however Hastings responded with a goal of their own to rebuild their lead to 3-1.

The Cardinals ended the game with two unanswered goals, starting with a free kick off the foot of Cara Miller from nearly 30 yards out, closing the score to 3-2.

Coldwater eventually tied things up with just two minutes left in the match as it was again Miller scoring on a free kick, this time from 20 yards out, knotting up the score at 3-3.

Both teams looked to add the late winning goal however when the buzzer sounded the score stood tied, with the Cardinals and Saxons notching the 3-3 stalemate.

After the conference tie the Coldwater record now stands at 3-4-2 overall and 0-1-1 in the Interstate 8.
