Cleveland Guardians came back to tie it in 6th, but fell to Milwaukee Brewers in extras

The Guardians erased an early deficit with a rally in the sixth but ultimately lost to the Milwaukee Brewers 5-4 in 10 innings Sunday afternoon at Progressive Field.

Tied 4-4 after nine innings, former Cleveland infielder Owen Miller drove a double off the top of the 19-foot wall in left to score the free runner and put the Brewers up 5-4 in the 10th. The Guardians were not able to answer in the bottom half of the inning.

The Guardians began to find their footing against Corbin Burnes in the sixth, when a three-run rally tied it 4-4.

With Jose Ramirez on base, Andres Gimenez hit an RBI triple to right-center field to cut the deficit to 4-2. A wild pitch allowed Gimenez to score, and Will Brennan tied it up 4-4 with an RBI single to left field.

Earlier, Josh Naylor belted a solo home run, his 10th of the season, to right, continuing his torrid pace over the last month.

Guardians starting pitcher Aaron Civale allowed four earned runs on six hits with five strikeouts in six innings, bringing his ERA to 3.18.

The Guardians drop to two games behind the Minnesota Twins in the American League Central Division. The Twins beat the Tigers on Sunday.
