Celtics reportedly working out forward Alize Johnson

“The Boston Celtics are bringing in forward Alize Johnson for a workout this week,” reports HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto of the Celtics apparently looking to get creative with finding some depth with their limited spending power below the league’s new second apron and the penalties it brings.

“The five-year NBA veteran is considered a high-motor player and rebounder,” related Scotto of the former San Antonio Spurs power forward. An older prospect at 27, Johnson stands 6-foot-7 with career averages of 2.5 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. An absence of an outside shot has limited the Missouri State alum at the NBA level, but his defensive skills could prove helpful to a team like Boston with a need on that end of the court off the bench.

There may be a bit of a hidden passing game and jumper to unlock with Johnson as well, as brief stints at the G League level and in college suggested the Williamsport native can hit treys when comfortable, with Johnson also putting up 2.4 assists per game while with Mississippi State.
