NBA Rumors: The Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics have not had “real” trade talks for Kevin Durant. Could it be true?
The Brooklyn Nets continue to wait for a Kevin Durant trade offer to come around that will knock their socks off. So far, they haven’t received one and that’s the biggest reason why Durant is still on the Nets’ roster.
From what’s been reported, it seems as if the strongest offer has come from the Boston Celtics. About a month ago, it was reported that they had offered a trade package centered around Jaylen Brown. If that is true, he is the best individual player that has been reportedly offered to the Nets in exchange for Durant.
Although, that’s something we don’t know for sure.
Is something off in the Kevin Durant trade saga reporting?
According to a recent report, the Celtics and Nets haven’t held “any real discussions of substance” in regards to a possible Durant trade.
For those keeping track at home, it was reported that the Celtics offered Brown to the Nets. But now that they haven’t had real talks.
Something has to give and it’s likely that one of these teams is using this report. On one hand, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Celtics made an initial offer and the Nets declined it and Boston decided to move on.
At the same rate, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Nets are using the Celtics’ “offer” to help boost interest and offers around Durant. At least for now, it doesn’t appear as if it has helped. But it wouldn’t be surprising if this was a tactic that was being used.
For now, at least, the Nets seem willing to carry this roster into training camp. If they weren’t, Durant would already be on a new team.
The Nets and Durant are still playing this high-stakes game of chicken. It’s almost impossible to try and predict which side will win. In the end, though, that may not matter. We’ll just have to wait and see regarding a possible Durant trade.
Question is, will the Celtics be one of the teams that continue their pursuit into the beginning of the regular season (if it comes to that)?
