MORE FANTASY COVERAGE: Top 250 rankings

NOTES: These fantasy projections (for 82-game season), a collaborative effort by Pete Jensen and Anna Dua, have been quantified based on factors including but not limited to past performance in the regular season and Stanley Cup Playoffs, projected line combinations, power-play usage, team goalie situations, injury history or concern, sleeper upside, anticipated regression or bounce-back candidacy, age, contract status and overall upside for this season. The below totals are safe estimates and do not necessarily indicate each player’s ceiling or floor and should be used as a basis for decision-making in all fantasy leagues. Players are listed below in order of NHL.com top 250 rank.

[Hurricanes 32 in 32: Season preview | 3 Questions | Top prospects]

Frederik AndersenG — He missed the final six games last season and all of the Stanley Cup Playoffs with a knee injury but still finished among NHL leaders in wins (35; seventh), goals-against average (2.17; second), save percentage (.922; tied for third) and shutouts (four; tied for sixth). Andersen, Carolina’s clear starter when healthy, is NHL.com’s third-ranked fantasy goalie behind Andrei Vasilevskiy of the Tampa Bay Lightning and Igor Shesterkin of the New York Rangers and can challenge his NHL career high of 38 wins for the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2017-18.

NHL.com win projection for Andersen: 37

Sebastian AhoC — The elite center had the best points-per-game average (1.03; 81 in 79 games) and power-play points (28) total of his NHL career last season. Aho will likely benefit from exposure to high-scoring defenseman Brent Burns (acquired from San Jose Sharks) and eventually left wing Max Pacioretty (acquired from Vegas Golden Knights; likely out for first half of season with torn Achilles) at even strength and/or on the first power play. He should be considered a fringe top 10 fantasy center.

NHL.com point projection for Aho: 90

Andrei SvechnikovLW Had NHL career highs in all six standard fantasy categories (30 goals, 39 assists, plus-19, 22 PPP, 249 shots on goal, 189 hits) and points (69) in his fourth season. Svechnikov can still reach another gear within Carolina’s potent offense and should be considered a top 15 fantasy left wing because of his strong coverage of hits (1.9 per game in NHL career), especially after the signing of veteran Paul Stastny to be the new no. 2 center.

NHL.com point projection for Svechnikov: 72

Brent Burns, D — He leads defensemen in goals (130), points (489 in 618 games) and shots on goal (2,116) and is fourth at the position in power-play points (175) since moving back to defense for the Sharks in 2014- 15. Burns is expected to be a staple on the Hurricanes’ first power play with Aho, Svechnikov and valuable wing. Teuvo Teravainen. He should once again be considered a fringe top 10 fantasy defenseman after the trade.

NHL.com point projection for Burns: 65

Teuvo Teravainen, LW/RW — He played mostly on the top line at even strength with Aho and rookie Seth Jarvis Last season and on the first power play. Teravainen led the Hurricanes in power-play points (31; tied for 13th in the NHL) and had an NHL career-high 202 shots on goal. Especially with the long-term injury to Pacioretty, Teravainen is worth reaching for in the middle rounds with a high ceiling (76 points in 2018-19).

NHL.com point projection for Teravainen: 68

Other CAR players to consider in fantasy: Seth Jarvis, LW/RW; Antti RaantaG; Jacob Slavin, D; Paul Stastny, C/LW; Jordan Staal, C; Pyotr Kochetkov, G; Martin NecasRW

Injured players worth stashing in all leagues: Max Pacioretty, LW
