Nearly 50 future soccer stars passed, dribbled and shot their way through the Cape Soccer Camp Aug. 1-5 at Cape High’s Bermuda grass fields.
Players from third to eighth grade worked on soccer skills and offensive and defensive strategies.
“Our camp is one where the high school boys’ program at Cape are camp counselors,” said Cape Camp Director Patrick Kilby. “They work with our Cape district youth to teach soccer using some of the same techniques and strategies we use with our high school players. My favorite part about this camp is that a few of our camp counselors grew up attending the very camp they coached. 100% of the camp proceeds go to the Cape varsity soccer team’s overnight trip. Aug. 28-30 our varsity team will be in Boston. We will play East Boston High School and Boston Latin School. We will also visit Northeastern University, tour their athletic facilities and meet their coaching staff. We will attend the New England Revolution vs. LA Galaxy match as well as the Northeastern University vs. Boston College match.”
Kilby would like to thank New Balance and Brandon Durk for donating the swag bags and local business owners Ashley Diehl from the Lewes Dairy Queen, SoDel Concepts and Surf Bagel, and Chelsea King from King’s Ice Cream for also making generous donations to the camp.
