MONTREAL – The Montreal Canadiens and RBC announced today a multi-year jersey partnership agreement, which will see the RBC logo featured on Canadiens player home jerseys worn at the Bell Center beginning in the upcoming 2022-23 season.
The partnership brings together two globally-recognized brands with storied histories that date back more than 100 years. At the heart of these two brands is a commitment to their communities. For each official jersey with the RBC logo sold on site at the team’s official store, Tricolore Sports, RBC will donate $20 to the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation, which encourages physical activity and the adoption of a healthy lifestyle among underprivileged youth in Quebec. The partnership will seek to engage fans in new and exciting ways through unique fan experiences, jersey engagement programs and in-arena activations. Further details regarding planned initiatives will be announced in the coming months.
“We are proud to partner with such an iconic brand as RBC,” said France Margaret Belanger, President of Sports and Entertainment, Groupe CH. “There are very few organizations, which, like our own, have a heritage that dates over a century and a legacy of making a difference in the lives of those across generations. We’d be hard-pressed to find a more appropriate association than the one we can formally unveil today.”
“At RBC, we believe sports have the power to unite communities. And hockey, which is part of Quebec’s rich heritage, brings an entire nation together,” explains Nadine Renaud-Tinker, Regional President, RBC in Quebec. “Teaming up with the Montreal Canadiens in this first-of-its-kind partnership is an honor, and we are incredibly excited to see it come to life as we continue to drive impact for Quebec’s prosperity, while engaging with our communities.”
The addition of the RBC patch comes as part of the newly-launched Jersey Advertising Program, which allows NHL teams to sell advertising on their game jerseys beginning with the 2022-23 season. Featuring the RBC name and shield with its iconic lion design, the patch will be stitched on the team’s official home red jerseys, measuring a standardized 3″ x 3.5″, in the upper right chest area. It will be worn for all preseason, regular season, and postseason home games, and will be available exclusively as an option on official jerseys sold at Tricolore Sports locations inside the Bell Center and at the Bell Sports Complex in Brossard. More information is available at canadiens.com/jersey.
The partnership announcement and the new game jerseys were unveiled during the 46th edition of the Montreal Canadiens Annual Golf Tournament, an event that traditionally marks the beginning of a new hockey season and brings together the Club’s partners, fans, and media.
