Calallen’s Neslony called up to Triple-A

Calallen and Texas Tech product Tyler Neslony has been promoted to Triple-A Charlotte after a strong first half of the season with Double-A Birmingham.

Neslony has spent time in Triple-A with the White Sox affiliate before. The Calallen grad hit .235 with seven home runs and 23 RBI before the call up.

Neslony’s promotion combined with Anthony Banda (Synton) and Rob Zastryzny (Calallen) moving to Triple-A leaves the Coastal Bend with six players currently in Triple-A.

Ray and Baylor product Nick Loftin returned to Omaha after a stint on the injured list and a rehab assignment that saw him torch rookie league pitching in Arizona with the ACL Royals. Moody and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi’s Aaron Hernandez was shifted to the 60-day injured list after starting the season in Salt Lake.

Another Islander, Nick Andersonhas swung a hot stick this season with 15 home runs for the independent Lincoln Saltdogs of the American Association.
