Burnley have made Dutch midfielder Gustavo Hamer their next target during their busy summer transfer window as they prepare for the Premier League.
Vincent Kompany has moved for England Under-21 goalkeeper James Trafford, Soumaila Coulibaly on loan from Borussia Dortmund as well as Jordan Beyer and Dara O’Shea, with Hamer also in his sights.
Hamer, 26, impressed for Coventry City last season while playing against Burnley and eventually reaching the Championship play-off final where he just missed out on promotion to Luton Town.
The Brazilian-born midfielder has played in the second-tier for three seasons after moving from PEC Zwolle in the Netherlands, and he has been tipped as a player who could adapt to the Premier League.
Burnley manager Kompany has turned to Hamer as he looks to strengthen his central-midfield area, with other Premier League and Championship clubs also looking at the player this summer as he enters the final year of his contract at Coventry.
He scored 11 goals in 44 matches last season while helping Mark Robins’ team reach Wembley. Josh Brownhill and Jack Cork are still at Turf Moor from their time in the Premier League under Sean Dyche but Kompany will look to add competition in that area.
