A woman dubbed “Chip Girl” has found the “key” to unlock her home in just seconds after she spontaneously got a tiny microchip implanted in her hand.
Burgundy Waller, a law student from the US, had a contactless chip put under the skin of her hand, which sits between her thumb and pointer finger, in June 2020.

Her tech husband has programmed their chips so they can control every door and drawer throughout their home without relying on a physical key.
Every room inside their mansion has been installed with a chip reader, which uses technology similar to hotel key cards used to unlock rooms and elevators.
“My hand is literally the key to my house… I don’t have to use an actual key to open my door,” she said in one of her viral TikTok videos.
‘Holds key to our house’
“My tech husband convinced me to get a chip in my hand. It holds a key to our house.”
She claimed the chip was inserted through a “small incision” by a medical professional.
Burgundy said the procedure “hurt” but the pain only lasted “five seconds”.
She has been documenting her life with a chip on social media, with more than three million people following her tech journey.
“The chip in my hand unlocks things around my house,” she said.
‘What can my hand open?’
“So what can I open with my hand? Let me show you. We have a snack cupboard, it also opens our bedroom door as well as our office and the drawers in our office.
“Our nightstand can also be opened with our chip and our closets… We also chipped the gym, cinema room and the elevator.”
Not only can she unlock things, she can also lock up every door with one tap.
“It can even lock up our towels and my makeup room,” she said.
She said her husband – who she calls “chip guy” – has a technologically advanced chip that can “hold information like websites and social media pages”.
Responding to skeptics, Burgundy made multiple videos to “prove” she actually has a chip in her hand.
‘My hand is a key’
“I’ve taken my ring off, there’s nothing up my sleeve. We have a scanner (outside our home), similar to a gym or perhaps your place of work (office),” she explained.
“When it’s red that means the door is locked. When I use my hand to unlock it, it turns green, and it unlocks the door.
“My hand is a key.”
‘Time for an upgrade’
In another video, Burgundy said she was eager to get a new chip with her credit card details implanted in her that can be used to make tap-and-go purchases in stores.
“Not fair, I have the old model,” she joked.
“My hand is only a key, guess it’s time for an upgrade.”
