The reputable Chinese PC manufacturer Lenovo has a bunch of different gaming laptops in its current lineup, some of which easily surpass the US$1,000 price mark by packing powerful hardware and a nice display into a well-made chassis. However, the company also offers much more affordable gaming-focused notebooks, such as the Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3, which has now gone on sale at Amazon.
The Seattle-based online retailer currently sells an entry-level configuration of the aforementioned Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 with the quick AMD Ryzen 5 6600H hexa-core processor and the well-established Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 dGPU with 4GB of VRAM and a reasonable maximum TGP of 85 watts for just US$599. This 15-inch gaming laptop is also equipped with 8GB of upgradable DDR5 memory as well as a relatively paltry 256GB SSD. Since this version of the Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 usually costs US$899, this deal offers savings of around 33 percent or US$300. According to the Amazon price tracker at Camelcamelcamel, this is the lowest sale price yet for this particular model.
We thoroughly reviewed this exact configuration of the 2022 Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 a few months ago, and we liked the gaming laptop’s very stable performance and the fact that it comes with an adequate Full-HD IPS display with a quick 120Hz refresh rate. But like many displays in this price range, its color reproduction and brightness are anything but impressive. On a more positive note, we praised the slim 170-watt charging brick as well as the affordable price tag, which has now dropped even further thanks to the considerable discount from Amazon. For less than US$600, this RTX 3050-powered gaming notebook is a reasonable choice for bargain hunters who are content with playing games at 1080p and reasonable settings and frame rates.
