The Intel Core i9-13900HX mobile processor has been spotted taking another turn on Geekbench and has yet again produced huge results. The upcoming Raptor Lake-HX chip is a 24-core behemoth that can hit boost speeds of 5.4 GHz. The i9-13900HX defeated a desktop i9-12900K in single-core testing and overtook an AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3960X in multi-core testing.

Hyperbole and new processor releases tend to go hand-in-hand, but sometimes the words are justified, which could be the case for the Intel Core i9-13900HX mobile processor. This part has already been through a Geekbench testing session back in November as a key component of a next-gen Razer Blade 18 laptop. The same chip is also expected to appear in future 18-inch Alienware gaming laptops, and now it has turned up on Geekbench inside a Clevo laptop. Clevo is a Taiwanese company noted for producing barebone chassis for custom notebooks and for its lineup of powerful gaming laptops. As pointed out by VideoCardz, the laptop sporting this i9-13900HX will also likely eventually boast a high-end Nvidia GeForce RTX 40-series GPU too.

So, what can a laptop with an Intel Core i9-13900HX manage on Geekbench with its 24 cores (8x performance, 16x efficiency) and 32 threads working at up to 5.4 GHz during boost periods? The single-core score was recorded at 2,039 points and the multi-core score was 20,943 points. These are not entirely dissimilar to those produced by the aforementioned Razer Blade laptop (2,063/20,164), with the single-core score of the “Notebook NP5x_6x_7x_SNx” being slightly lower and the multi-core score being a good bit higher. If you take the two results and create an average, you end up with a single-core score that pushes past the Geekbench average of the desktop Intel Core i9-12900K (2,051 vs. 1,987) and a multi-core score that places the i9 -13900HX above 2019’s Ryzen Threadripper 3960X (20,553 vs. 20,074).

At +2.62% over the Alder Lake desktop part and +4.33% over the Zen 2 chip, the Intel Core i9-13900HX is showing some serious performance capabilities, especially as it is a processor for mobile devices. However, just how mobile a laptop featuring the i9-13900HX can be is open to question. The processor boost power (PBP) is expected to be 55 W but the maximum turbo power (MTP) could hit 157 W and beyond. Add in the power requirement for a beefy Nvidia GPU and the laptop becomes more of a portable desktop replacement with maybe a few minutes of gaming life on battery. But for those who will be able to afford such a likely expensive Raptor Lake-HX/RTX 40-series laptop with a cutting-edge cooling system, portability is not going to be the main selling point anyway.
