Brooklyn Nets ranked as the fifth-best team in the league by NBA.com

The Brooklyn Nets were ranked as the fifth-best team in the NBA in an article published by NBA.com on Monday. This piece was done following Brooklyn’s 120-116 win over the Golden State Warriors on Sunday.

The Nets are currently 29-17 (tied for third place in the Eastern Conference) and are 5.5 games behind the first-place Boston Celtics. Brooklyn has won five of its past 10 games, but they are 2-4 since Kevin Durant has been out with his sprained right MCL. The Nets have one more game left on their current road trip and that’s at the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday.

Here’s what NBA.com had to say about Brooklyn being ranked as the fifth-best team in the NBA:

“The Nets lost their first four games after Kevin Durant’s knee injury, scoring a pretty anemic 101.7 points per 100 possessions over the losing streak. The worst offensive performance of the four came against the worst defensive team in the league, with the Nets (who rank second in 3-point percentage for the season) having the worst 3-point shooting game of the season for any team that doesn’t t play its home games in Houston, Texas. But that loss in San Antonio came without Kyrie Irving, who totaled 86 points on an effective field goal percentage of 71.6% as the Nets put an end to the slide and won two games over the weekend.”
