The Brooklyn Nets are considered as a potential landing spot for Minnesota Timberwolves big man Karl-Anthony Towns if Minnesota decides to move on from him this offseason, according to Sean Deveney of heavy.com. According to the article, it seems like the New York Knicks would have the best chance of getting Towns if he is ever on the trade block.
Minnesota just finished its first season of experimenting with having two big men in the starting lineup, something that most teams cannot get away with anymore. The Timberwolves made it to the playoffs as the eighth seed in the Western Conference playoffs, but lost to the top-seeded Denver Nuggets in five games.
To bring this full circle, Brooklyn has an interesting offseason ahead of itself as it will have to decide if it wants to go star-hunting or if the organization wants to embrace a full rebuild. If the Nets decide to trade for a star to get back in the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference, Towns would be a good place to start. “Among the teams executives mentioned as potential suitors for Towns: Brooklyn and Miami (two teams that will inevitably come up in any potential superstar trade talks in the next six months, although the Heat’s Jimmy Butler has a rocky history with Towns), Portland ( in a Damian Lillard deal?) and Indiana. Should Boston consider dealing away All-Star wing Jaylen Brown, which is a longshot, the Celtics could offer the best single player in return for Towns.”
