Trinity Western Spartans 3 UNBC Timberwolves 1

Michael Henman scored in defeat for the (0-1-1) T-Wolves who are back in action next Friday and Saturday against the Victoria Vikes (0-2-0) from Masich Place Stadium.

In women’s action, UNBC begins its season with a pair of road games against UBCO (Saturday) in Kelowna followed by a battle against Thompson Rivers (Sunday) in Kamloops.

BC Football Conference

The Prince George Kodiaks have a bye following a 35-0 loss to the Okanagan Sun on Saturday in Kelowna.

PG is 1-4 on the season and will host the Langley Rams on September 10th at 7pm from Masich Place Stadium.

Local Softball

The FFR Glass Grays of Prince George captured gold at the Softball BC Intermediate “A” Championship with a win over the Kelowna Brewers.

In addition, the Vanderhoof Rippers finished 4th in the Senior “B” Provincials. The last time a team from Vanderhoof entered the tournament was in 1986.

Los Angeles Angels 8 Toronto Blue Jays 3

The (68-58) Jays dropped all three games against the Angels (55-73) but still remained in the third and final wild card spot in the American League. Seattle and Tampa have the other two spots.

Toronto kicks off a three-game home set tonight against the Chicago Cubs.

PGA Championship

Rory McIlroy had the final say with his clubs when he rallied from six shots behind to win the Tour Championship and capture the FedEx Cup for the third time.

McIlroy won $18 million, pushing his PGA Tour earnings to over $26 million for the season.
