After the St. Louis Cardinals selected Brayden Jobert in the 12th round of the MLB Draft, he’s elected to forgo his remaining eligibility and turn pro.
It comes as no surprise with Jobert being a four-year college player, spending two years at a community college before playing his final two at LSU.
Jobert was one of LSU’s most consistent hitters in his time as a Tiger, slugging .587 over 119 games. He totaled four hits in his final game to help LSU clinch the College World Series final against Florida.
In a Tweet, Jobert thanked Jay Johnson and the staff and said, “I will carry the Purple and Gold love for the rest of my life.”
The big swinging lefty will now try to make the most of his power in the Cardinals organization. Despite being a 12th-round pick, his age and SEC experience could make him a valuable piece as he attempts to make it to the show.
