The NBA as a whole has undergone some pretty significant changes over the past few years. New strategies on and off the court have fostered new strategies from players, coaches, and executives that have drastically changed the state of the NBA. Some changes are good, while others haven’t panned out as expected, but to see change, sometimes you have to make mistakes along the way.
Brandon Jennings is not happy with the state of the NBA
Of course, some people aren’t going to be happy with some of these changes, and one of those people is Brandon Jennings. Jennings hasn’t been out of the NBA for long, but he isn’t happy with what he has seen since he left the NBA after the 2018-19 season.

Jennings went on a lengthy Twitter tirade about the state of the NBA, and not much of it was positive. Among his tweets were shots at the players in the league for having no heart and switching teams whenever they please and direct shots at LeBron James and Chris Paul for allowing the NBA to become a players league. Here are a few of the tweets from Jennings’ tirade:
Does Brandon Jennings have a point in his assessment of the NBA?
Jennings harbors some strong feelings against the current state of the NBA, but is he right to do so? Jennings’ opinions are a bit divisive and follow a line of fans who are unhappy that star players have so much control over where they play basketball. Jennings believes there’s no incentive to watch the NBA with so many players flocking to new teams whenever they please.
While players having more control over where they play is certainly a newer concept, it’s not the worst thing to ever happen to the NBA. Jennings’ other concerns about players having no heart and just wanting money are pretty baseless. Getting through an entire NBA season is a grind; you have to love the game, or else you won’t be able to make it. To suggest that only a few players have heart in the NBA nowadays is just wrong.
Some folks may be adverse to change, and Jennings may be among that group. Sure, some things in the NBA are different than they once were, but that’s not necessarily bad. If everything remained the same each season, things would get stale. It’s why the Brooklyn Nets situation is receiving so much attention; we as fans have never seen anything like this before.
So as Jennings continues to complain about the NBA, it is important to remember that the game of basketball has never been more popular, and its continued evolution will continue to help its staying power among sports fans.
