The Dell G15 was and still is one of the more popular choices in the crowded budget gaming laptop segment, but with the slightly larger G16, the Texas-based PC manufacturer has recently released a good-looking successor that features Intel’s latest Alder Lake processors. About four weeks ahead of this year’s Black Friday shopping event, a budget-friendly mid-range configuration of the new Dell G16 gaming laptop has now gone on sale with a noteworthy discount.
At the company’s official online shop, the Dell G16 configuration with the quick Intel Core i7-12700H Alder Lake CPU and the well-known Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti with 4GB of GDDR6 VRAM can now be ordered for just US$899.99 including free shipping. This deal is only valid for the elegant “Obsidian Black” color variant, which is further equipped with 16GB of dual-channel DDR5 memory, a 512GB NVMe SSD as well as a QHD+ display with a quick refresh rate of 165Hz. Since this version of the Dell G16 usually costs US$1,340; this sale offers savings of more than US$400 or 33 percent.
We’ve thoroughly tested the slightly better RTX 3060 configuration of the Dell G16, but some of our findings should apply to this particular model as well. We for example praised the gaming laptop’s display for its full sRGB coverage and fast response times, but we also liked the rigid base as well as the above average CPU performance. For a steeply discounted sale price of US$899, the Dell G16 is a reasonable choice for gamers who like the rather bulky design that is reminiscent of certain Alienware gaming laptops.
