Bradford back on top with NCAA-leading mark

LUBBOCK, Texas – Zach Bradford continued to soar new heights as he broke his own school pole vault record for the second-straight week to close out the final day of the Texas Tech Open & Multis Saturday afternoon inside the Sports Performance Center.

With last week’s top Tech mark sitting at 5.72m (18-9 ¼), Bradford cleared the bar on his final attempt 5.76m (18-10 ¾). The mark put Bradford back on top of the NCAA charts for this season. He bowed out of the event attempting 5.82m (19-1) which would have set an all-time new mark for him.

Over on the women’s side, Ryleigh Redding tied her personal best (PB) and season best (SB) clearing a height of 4.18m (13-8 ½), also taking first place.

In the men’s triple jump, Chris Welch notched a SB with a mark of 15.98m (52-5 ½) and Keyshawn King made his Red Raider debut placing fifth. Onaara Obamuwagun paced the women’s side finishing second with a SB mark of 13.38m (43-10 ¾).

Marco Vilca shined in the 800m for TTU, running his indoor PB time of 1:47.88. After the altitude conversion, the time will be top-5 in the country and it also puts him 10th all-time in the Tech Record book.

Staying on the track, Edward Rush and Halena Rahman each recorded new PBs in the mile. Rush clocked in at 4:05.05 (first overall) while Rahmaan crossed the finish line at 4:55.89.
