Blades Pre-Season Roster Reduced by Five, With Five More at NHL Camps

The Saskatoon Blades are bidding bon voyage and good luck to five veteran players as they head to NHL rookie camps.

Left winger Brandon Lisowsky is already in Toronto. Heading off this week are defenseman Charlie Wright to Edmonton plus forwards Josh Pillar to Minnesota, Conner Roulette to Dallas and Justin Lies to Vegas. None of the five are expected to return and be available this weekend for a pair of WHL pre-season games against the Prince Albert Raiders. The Blue and Gold are in PA Friday before the teams collide Saturday in their annual exhibition in Warman. First face-off both nights is 7 o’clock with CJWW broadcasting both games, beginning at 6-45.

In addition, the Bridge City Bunch reduced their pre-season roster, officially, to 29 players Monday by re-assigning five picks from the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft to their respective Under-18 teams for the upcoming season. They are defensemen Isaac Poll, Brayden Klimpke and Jordan Martin plus forwards Hudson Kibblewhite and Lochlan Tetarenko. That leaves Saskatoon with three goaltenders, 11 defensemen and 15 forwards on the roster. Following are news releases from the Blades…..

SEPTEMBER 12, 2022

Saskatoon, SK – Five Saskatoon Blades players will be attending NHL Camps starting this week. Forwards Brandon Lisowsky (Toronto Maple Leafs), Conner Roulette (Dallas Stars), Justin Lies (Vegas Golden Knights), Josh Pillar (Minnesota Wild) and defenseman Charlie Wright (Edmonton Oilers) have left to their respective camps.

  • Lisowsky will be attending the Toronto Maple Leafs training camp this week, after being selected 218th overall by the Leafs in the 2022 NHL Draft. The forward attended the Maple Leafs rookie camp over the summer and will be attending his first NHL Camp this month.
  • Roulette has left for Dallas to attend the Stars training camp this week. The forward traveled to Edmonton with the Blades and collected 5 points (4G-1A) in the two pre-season games he played in. Roulette was drafted 111th overall in the 2021 NHL Draft by the Stars.
  • Lies will be attending Vegas Golden Knights training camp this month. The forward, who wasn’t drafted in the 2021 NHL Draft, was invited to the Golden Knights rookie camp this summer.
  • Pillar will be attending the Minnesota Wild training camp this week. The 20-year-old was drafted by the Wild 127th overall in the 2021 NHL Draft. Pillar also traveled to Edmonton with the Blades this past weekend and scored 3 points (0G-3A) in 2 games.
  • Wright will be attending training camp with the Edmonton Oilers in Edmonton this month. The undrafted defenseman from Olds, AB will be attending his first NHL Camp.

Saskatoon, SK – The Saskatoon Blades have released five players following their weekend trip to Edmonton.

The 21st overall pick in the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft Isaac Poll35th overall pick in 2022 Hudson Kibblewhite41st overall pick in 2022 Jordan Martin62nd overall pick in 2022 Lochlan Tetarenkoand 70th overall pick in 2022 Brayden Klimpke have been released from the active roster and are all expected to return to their respective U18 teams.

  • Poll played for the Prairie Storm U15 AA in the SAAHL U15 in 21/22 where he tallied 38 points (10G-28A) in 26 games. The player is expected to report to Regina Pat Canadians U18 AAA.
  • Kibblewhite played for the Rink Hockey Academy Kelowna U15P in the CSSHL U15 where he scored 61 points (19G-42A) in 30 games. The player is expected to report to the Rink Hockey Academy Kelowna U18.
  • Tetarenko played for the Okotoks Oilers U15 AAA in the AEHL U15 where he scored 50 points (26G-24A) in 34 games. The player is expected to report to the Okotoks Oilers U18 AAA.
  • Martin played for Yale Hockey Academy U15 Prep in the CSSHL U15 in 21/22 where he collected 28 points (7G-21A) in 24 games. The player is expected to report to Yale Hockey Academy U18 Prep.
  • Klimpke played for the Northern Alberta Xtreme U15 Prep in the CSSHL U15. In 29 games, the player from Calgary, AB, scored 17 points (0G-17A). The player is expected to report to North Alberta Xtreme U17 Prep.
