STEUBENVILLE — The Big Red boys soccer team got back on the field Monday night at Harding Stadium more than a week after opening its season with a win, and showed no signs of a layoff as they defeated rival Indian Creek, 7-1.
Coach Greg Bowers’ club got a hat trick from Anthony Vendetti, while Matt Loot and Cole Bowers each netted two goals each for the Crimson and Black.
Loot added three assists for Big Red, while Aiden Morales and Ethan Stimpert each recorded an assist.
JP Walsh made three saves in goal for Big Red.
For Indian Creek, Elijah Llewellyn netted the Redskins lone goal, unassisted.
Trevor Francis made 12 saves in the game for the Redskins.
Big Red has another layoff before it makes a trip to Beaver Local on Sept. 1.

Toronto tops Harrison
CADIZ — The Red Knights volleyball team opened its season with a 25-20, 25-17, 25-15 sweep of Harrison Central on the road Monday night.
Hannah Dobbs had 16 kills, 11 digs, seven blocks and two aces for Toronto, overall Michelle Anderson added four kills and 17 digs, Andrea Reeves dished 26 assists and had four blocks, Riley Fisher collected 17 digs and four aces and Callie Anderson had five kills and seven digs.
The Red Knights are back in action Wednesday, hosting Weir High in their home opener.
