Best NBA prop picks December 20: Bet on Jordan Poole to rack up the points

  • by

Among tonight’s five NBA games, our eyes are most firmly affixed to the Steph Curry-less Golden State Warriors.

The pregame narrative: Jordan Poole has handled starting point guard duties admirably in Curry’s absence, and that should continue. We’re also happy to bet on Bojan Bogdanovic at home, while Jaren Jackson Jr. faces a tough matchup in the paint.

Find all our best NBA props picks for December 20 below.

NBA prop picks

Best Bet : Poole over 26.5 points (-110)

A lot of NBA players are picking on the Raptors these days, but few have done as thoroughly as Poole.

He scored 43 points — a career-high — in Toronto on 14-of-23 shooting, with five makes from beyond the 3-point line. It was a damn clinic.

With the game’s greatest shooter shelved for a few weeks due to a shoulder injury, Poole has stepped into a much bigger role in the Warriors’ offense. In Curry’s absence, Poole has averaged 26.8 points per game over 22 games since the start of last season.

Tonight, Poole faces a red-hot Knicks team that has won seven in a row. For the Warriors to keep pace, Poole should see 35-plus minutes. After all, he’s had that many runs in four of five games sans Curry.

New York allows the eight-most points to opposing point guards, per FantasyPros, and Poole has a great opportunity to clear this line.

Key stat: Poole has averaged 30.8 points in five games without Curry this season, clearing this line in each of his past three matchups.

Quick picks

Bogdanovic over 2.5 threes (-112): Come, lean into the Bogdanovic revenge-game narrative with us.

The former Jazz sharpshooter is now a beyond-the-arc mercenary for the Pistons, and this is an enticing spot to tail him. Bogdanovic has cleared this line in three of four games overall, but he’s been particularly menacing at home. Inside Little Caesars Arena, the 33-year-old is averaging 3.1 threes per game on 45.4% shooting.

Go ahead and stick it to your former employer, Bogdanovic.

Jackson under 6.5 rebounds (-132): In 13 games since his return from injury, Jackson has fallen below this rebounding line eight times. And he should do it again, given how tough this matchup is.

Led by two-time reigning MVP Nikola Jokic, the Nuggets have the fifth-highest rebound rate (51.7%) in the NBA, and they allow the second-fewest rebounds per game (39.9) to opponents.

Big men are particularly punished, as the Nuggets rank inside the top five for the fewest rebounds allowed to both power forwards and centers.
