EAST LANSING – Blaine Baldwin shot an 89, tied for 29th place individually, and led the Cheboygan boys golf team, which recorded a 374 score and took 13th at a MHSAA Division 2 regional meet at Timber Ridge Golf Club in East Lansing on Wednesday.
Also for the Chiefs, Max Hart (90) tied for 35thLuke Karsten (97) tied for 64thCarson Lavender (98) tied for 70thand Connor Gibbons (120) finished in 88th.
Winning the team title was Flint Powers Catholic, which scored a 330. DeWitt (333) and Alpena (340) also qualified for states by finishing second and third respectively.
Flint Powers Catholic’s Robert Burns carded a 68 and earned individual medalist honors.
As all five Cheboygan golfers are seniors, Baldwin, Hart, Karsten, Lavender and Gibbons played in their final high school meet on Wednesday.
The Division 2 state finals will take place at the Fortress in Frankenmuth on Friday-Saturday, June 9-10.
Mackinaw City takes 12th at Division 4 regional
HARBOR SPRINGS – The Mackinaw City golf team finished 12thth overall at a MHSAA Division 4 regional meet at Harbor Point Golf Club in Harbor Springs on Tuesday.
Leading the Comets (477) was Jeffrey Siebigteroth, who tied for 43rd overall by carding a 100. Tanyon Pierce (120) finished 61stStCarter DeWitt (126) came in at 64thJared Wiertalla (131) placed 66thand Kyle Valot (142) took 70th.
For Inland Lakes, Evan Perrault tied for 43rdrd by posting a 100, while Masen DeWyre (113) was 56th and Sam Mayer (143) finished 71stSt.
Led by individual medalist Hudson Vollmer (71), Charlevoix (309) won the team championship. Maple City Glen Lake (319) finished second and Suttons Bay (339) also qualified for states by earning third.
The Division 4 golf state finals will be held at Bedford Valley in Battle Creek on Friday and Saturday, June 9-10.
