Asus presents TUF Gaming A16 Advantage Edition all-AMD laptop with Zen 4 APUs, unannounced RDNA 3 mobile dGPU and USB4 connector

With this year’s TUF gaming laptop lineup, Asus is introducing a brand new all-AMD Advantage Edition A16 model that is powered by the latest Zen 4 and Radeon RDNA 3 mobile chips. These models come with some triple-A features that very few premium AE laptops currently integrate.

The chassis of the TUF A16 AE features the MIL-STD-810H toughness standard, yet it remains fairly slim. On the display side we find a 16-inch narrow-bezel IPS panel with 2560 x 1600 resolution, 240 Hz refresh rate, 3 ms response time, 100% DCI-P3 color gamut and AMD FreeSync Premium. There is a budget option as well, with 1920 x 1200 resolution, 165 Hz refresh rate, 7 ms response time, 100% sRGB color gamut and Freesync Premium.

As far as performance is concerned, the TUF A16 AE comes equipped with AMD’s latest Zen 4 mobile processors up to a Ryzen 9 with SmartShift support, although the exact model is not specified. There is also an unannounced RDNA 3 dGPU with 8 GB GDDR6 VRAM, 120 W TGP, MUX switch and Smart Access Graphics support, which will most likely compete with Nvidia’s RTX 4070 mobile. The system supports up to 32 GB of DDR5-4800 RAM and it features 2x PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots for up to 2 TB NVMe storage.

A robust port selection is offered with 2x US-A 3.2 Gen 1, 1x USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C full option, an HDMI 2.1 video out, an audio jack and a GbE jack. A pleasant surprise is the inclusion of a USB4 connector, which is quite a rarity on AMD-powered systems.

Other features include a quality 4-speaker sound system with Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res audio compatibility, an FHD webcam with IR sensor, Wi-Fi 6 and BT 5.2 connectivity and a 90 Wh battery. Laptop profile varies between 22.15 and 26 75 mm depending on the configuration, and the system weighs 2.2 kg.

No word on availability and pricing as of yet.
